Finding Us: The Journey to Culnacraig
Your remote escape begins with a beautiful drive. Please note that the final part of the journey is on single-track roads and an unsurfaced track.
Driving from Ullapool (Approx. 1 hour total):
From Inverness, it is approximately 1 hour to Ullapool.
From Ullapool, take the A835 north.
After a short distance, turn left at the signpost for Achiltibuie. This road is single-track for the remaining 19 miles. Please use the passing places.
Continue through the long, spread-out village of Achiltibuie and follow the road to Culnacraig, where the main tarmac road ends.
At the end of the tarmac road, by the first house, turn right through a gate to begin the half-mile track to the cottage.
This track is unsurfaced and should be driven with care, especially if your car has low ground clearance. You will pass several gates—please leave them as you find them (either open or closed), as this is essential for local crofting.
The track winds through a small birch wood, levels out, and passes a stone byre on your right. Keep going straight on.
The track will descend steeply to the right of a white cottage (with a blue porch) before you arrive at 173 Culnacraig, at the very end of the track.

Public Transport: The nearest airport and main railway station are in Inverness, where car hire is available. Regular buses run from Inverness to Ullapool.
Please note: There is only one bus service a day between Ullapool and Achiltibuie. There is no public transport from Achiltibuie to Culnacraig (5 miles), so a car is essential.
